A Balloon for Isabel

Here’s a good read that we discovered during last night’s bedtime story. It’s actually a 2010 Smithsonian notable book written by Deborah Underwood and illustrated by Laura Rankin. The book, A Balloon for Isabel.

It’s an exciting book from start to finish. I tells of the story of Isabel, a determined porcupine whose only desperate desire is to have a balloon on Graduation Day. She’s tired of the bookmarks porcupines have been receiving during special occasions while all the others play with their bright, bouncy, helium-filled toy.

Her "No Fair!" statement is right but what can a small, pocupine school girl do with the school's no-balloons-for-porcupines rule?

Will her persistence lead to success? Her creative solution will amuse everyone!

A ★★★★★ rating from Me&MyGirls. I pray that Ashrie would grow up not compromising with the prejudices of this world but to live her life enjoying her rights, not to accept NO's when she truly believed in her heart that it should be YES!

Yes, just like Isabel.
