Limang Taon

Happy 5th Wedding Anniversary to my everdearest wife, Jane. May we continue to grow in love as the years go by and may we cherish each other even more as we journey together, dreaming dreams and achieving them.

May God bless our relationship and our family as a whole. May we always be in the center of His perfect will.

Looking forward to our 50th! I love you, always and forever.

*Limang Taon (Tagalog for Five Years) is my first Tagalog entry title.

Ashrie and Her Shoes (Part 2)

This is a sequel to Ashrie and her Shoes published last year.  Just a quick update on the new additions to her (or should I say our) ever-growing collection of kid’s footwear.  So far, we have three favorite stores to shop.

First, ZARA Baby. They have the handsomest collection of quality leather shoes. Their pieces are like smaller versions of their collection for women. So your child will gorgeously walk like a little lady.

Second on the list is GAP Kids. They got us with their fuchsia satin-covered flats. Since then we are on the lookout for dainty styles like that. There was even an instance when ordered and reserved a pair because her size is not on stock. Good thing the “black beauty” came in time for her second birthday.

And lastly, Cotton On Kids. Casual style, comfort and unbeatable low prices.

A kid’s growth is inevitable, feet and all, so I’m pretty sure there will be a third edition soon. To end, I will be leaving you with this “funny but true” quote: The one thing children wear out faster than shoes is parents. ~John J. Plomp

Happy Birthday Singapore!

To our beloved country of residence, our second home, our daughter’s birthplace. A very happy celebration of your 46th National Day! May God continue to prosper this remarkable island nation- the land, its leaders, and its people.

We decorated that DIY cake ourselves. And here is Ashrie singing Happy Birthday while eating the cake. (Sssh! Just between us, she thinks it her birthday every time there’s a cake in the house.)

Indeed we are glad to be here. We © SG!

Got Our iPad 2

I mentioned in my recent post EFC's Photo+Video Competition that we participated in the contest and the winners will be announced during the church's celebration of National Day today. (You may view our entries by clicking on the link.)

Well, we are so blessed to have won the prize and we cannot thank our home church enough for the token.

Thank you Evangel for our iPad 2! And thank God for Evangel!

The Chair

I was helping Ashrie with her pj's one night and she was holding on to a swivel chair. I told her not to lean on the seat because the chair is not stable. Ashrie replied affirmatively, "Yes daddy, the chair is not (a) table!". Oh dear! =)

My Little Pony @ McDonald's

My Little Pony is a brand of toy ponies marketed primarily to young women and children and produced by the toy manufacturer Hasbro. These ponies can be identified by their colorful bodies and manes, and typically a unique symbol or series of symbols on one or both sides of their haunches. Accordingly, the ponies are named after the symbols on their haunches.

Following the related My Pretty Pony toy, introduced in 1981, My Little Pony was launched in 1983. The line became popular during the 80s. The original toy line ran from 1983 to 1995 and inspired animated specials, including an animated feature length movie and three animated television series. The brand was re-launched between 1997 and 2003 and then fully re-launched globally in 2003. My Little Pony celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2008.

That’s from Wiki.

And last month they made their colorful appearance at McDonald’s, free inside every Happy Meal box. Ashrie collected three ponies. What a joy!

EFC’s Photo+Video Competition

Just recently, we participated in a competition organized by Evangel Family Church in line with Singapore’s National Day 2011. Mechanics include uploading a captioned photo and a video with the theme “We are Singaporeans” on Evangel’s Facebook page. Submission of entries closed at 12 midnight yesterday. Winners will be announced on Sunday.

Earlier that morning my brother and I got up earlier than the usual Sunday mornings to videoshoot.  We didn’t go far; just the nearby community central and the neighboring town to see what we can capture from the heartlands. It was a very candid and time-limited “filming” (so to speak) because we need to quickly head back home and prepare for church.

Church.

After church and after lunch, Jane and I start setting-up for our photo entry. Once we got the perfect shot, we started the painstaking task of video editing and uploaded the two requirements still hot off the grill. We finished our video entry past 9 pm already.

Here are our official entries. The captioned photo: We ♥ SG!

Aren’t you amused with how most Singaporeans hang their clothes to dry? It’s ingenuity at its finest! Because of lack of space, they devised a way to make things work for them. And it’s a green thing! My wife, who has been here for almost five years already, can do the “pole hanging thing” almost effortlessly. The photo concept was from her. And FYI, this not photoshopped, no cropping even. The wordings are hand-painted on white paper, then carefully cut and pasted onto the shirts.

And our video entry: We are Singaporeans

Here, we debut as director, cameraman, and editor. That’s mine, my brother’s, and my wife’s respective roles. They say you will know who you really are through other people’s view of you. This is my perspective of Singapore presented in a 30-second clip. Sit back and enjoy!

Looking forward to Red Dot Sunday! Until then.
