Ashrie's Painting

Just a quick post here.

Ashrie is one day away from her short school break because of the Chinese New Year holidays and here she is, practicing her painting skills. I have personally noticed how she has improved and how she can now illustrate graphically what she thinks and imagine. I am planning to buy a stretched canvas so that she can try working on a different medium which is acrylic paint. And probably get her some good-quality brushes as well.

Good job big sister Ashrie! Here are the photos:

Until next time!

Garry and Ullah's Wedding

I took a leave from work last Friday to join MyGirls to be official witnesses to Jane’s uncle (who is actually younger) and his fiancée’s wedding at the Philippine embassy here in Singapore. It was a short ceremony administered by a consul. Ashrie acted as the ring bearer and the flower girl at the same time. It was then followed by an early dinner hosted by the newly-weds over at Gerry’s Grill.

Congratulations and best wishes to Garry and Ullah! May your marriage be strong and blissful and may there be little Garrys and little Ullahs soon!

Girl or Boy?

Jane's on her 17th week today and it was her monthly appointment with her OB. We have waited patiently for this time because it is the time of pregnancy (actually even a week earlier) that we will know the baby’s gender. And guess what? We are going to have another princess! Yes, a baby girl!

So, more ribbons, laces, and fancy dresses to come. And more kisses and hugs from my sweet little angels!

For now, Jane and I need to decide on the perfect name. I already have a baby boy’s name but now we need to start from scratch. The girly, baby stuff will come soon. Hopefully, it’ll be easy since we've gone on this road before.

On a side note, I thought it was really going to be a boy because she has been giving Jane a pretty good time compared to her difficult and sensitive pregnancy with Ashrie. But at the same time, because Jane has been acting rather weirdly lately, I had an inkling that it’s going to be a girl. And truth be told, she said, she felt it, and she knew deep inside her that’s it is going to be a girl. Mother’s instinct!

So this blog will still be Me&MyGirls, Scribbles on how it is to live with THREE girls in the house.

In Kindergarten

You know that I treat my blog as a photo album most of the time, right? So I’ll do it again today. Here’s Ashrie on her first day in Kindergarten. She’ll be turning 5 this year and she’s a transferee to her new school.

So, it’ll be new teachers, new classmates, new set of friends and a new environment altogether.  It’s also a new timeslot as she’ll be attending the morning session starting this year.

This time, the school isn't far way. It’s actually the same building where we live so it is easier for MyGirls. And it’s a good thing as the second baby is on the way. It’ll be less difficult to send and fetch her to and fro her school everyday. Well, distance-wise.

Right now, there are ten girls and five boys in her class, and she’s the only Filipina.

She has done well in her Nursery and we hope that she will continue to excel in her preschool. God bless your studies dear Ashrie!

Mosaic Art

What do you see?

This is entitled Faces. It’s a mosaic art which is made of paper cut-outs from the glossy pages of magazines to form an abstract pixilated piece. One pixel is actually one piece of colored cut-out.  Every piece is glued on to a large sheet of paper and then sealed off with about 3 coats or more of decoupage medium. It is then matted and framed in a 72x102 cm black Ribba frame from IKEA.

We wanted a conversation piece, something one-of-a-kind and colorful in the Living Hall. It’s also inexpensive and “green” because it’s made from recycled paper.  And design-wise, I think I have succeeded in that. We actually want a larger piece but were limited with the frame size available.

It is from this artwork that I took all the accent colors for the area, the reds of the throw pillow, the blue one-seater sofa and books, the purple flowers, and the gold-themed Christmas tree. All the rest of the furnishings are in muted neutral colors.

I'm still thinking of another artwork for the Master Bedroom, and I will surely share what I have come up for that in the future. Hopefully soon.
